Certificate in Nursing Assistant (NVQ 4)

Duration: 12 Months

What Skills Will You Learn Through Nursing Assistant Training?

Once enrolled in a nursing assistant training education program, you can expect to
take a variety of courses to learn important skills, including :

  • Assisting with patient personal care such as bathing, feeding, walking,
  • changing bed linens, and more
  • Tracking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
  • Communicating effectively with patients to encourage them through difficult
  • periods
  • Practical experience using related medical equipment
  • Controlling infections
  • Basic anatomy and physiology
  • Feeding and nutrition
  • How to handle emergency situations

Once you complete training and certification, you could have a variety of employment opportunities in nursing homes, hospitals, retirement communities, patient homes, and hospice facilities.

  • The Course Completion Certificate and Official Statements will be awarded by Northern Institute of Health Management (NIHM) Sri Lanka.
  • NVQ Level 04 will be awarded by Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
  • This certificate will provide a foundation for students seeking progression in the field of nursing to a Higher Diploma and beyond. The students will have the opportunity to sit for Government NVQ4 Exam also as an option. You will receive unparalleled, first-hand experience via the practicals at Venus Hospital, Jaffna a leading tertiary care hospital in Jaffna

Diploma in Professional Care Giving (Level 4)

Duration - 6 Months, Fast Track - 2 Months

  • Entry Qualification – O/Level
  • Qualification – UK Qualification
  • Mode of Study – (On-campus/Online)

Higher Diploma in Nursing (NVQ 6)

Duration: 3 Years

This Higher National Diploma is designed as per the NVQ level 6 guidelines to develop a good understanding of professional nursing practice and the importance of applying the knowledge and skills into the practice in the professional nursing field in Sri Lanka and other countries. Program is intended for upcoming demand in professional nursing officers for the local and foreign job market.

Entry Requirements
1. Height – Minimum 4’10 healthy unmarried individuals
2. Age – 18-25 years.(Few male candidates will be accommodated)
3. Passed the G.C.E Ordinary Level Examination including Sinhala/Tamil, Science, Mathematics, English Language and
4. Possess a minimum of three passes in G.C.E Advanced Level examination in any stream or
5. Possess a minimum of one or two passes in G.C.E Advanced level examination in the science stream

Level 6 Diploma – 06 months - Equivalent - Final year of the UK Degree qualification
